A Financial Plan is Critical to Personal Financial Success
Financial Plan and Analysis Service
Having a financial plan is very important to any person's and family financial success.  This may vary by each person
needs but getting objective advice is critical.  Our clients go through a goal based process that takes three separate
meetings.  The three meeting process includes a fact gathering, analysis and final review meeting.

We use a goal based system since it is the easiest to understand, practical and offers more flexibility.  The other common
method is cash flow planning.  We believe the cash flow process is good for short term planning but not for longer time
horizons.  Changes in life styles, taxes and the economy may influence the cash flow method outcomes more directly.
The goal based process offers less distractions and allows you to keep your focus on the outcomes.

Getting a Custom Objective Opinion

A financial plan should accomplish a few different things within the process.  It should be your plan and not a cookie
cutter analysis with a few personalized pages.   Our process is interactive and we listen to your financial concerns.  We
try to find appropriate solutions that you can implement and not just a list of recommendations.  Listed below are the
major items we cover within our financial planning analysis:

  • Personal & Financial Goals
  • Current & Projected Expenses
  • Asset Gathering
  • Risk Tolerance Analysis
  • Current Portfolio Review & Asset Allocation
  • Required Rate of Return
  • Goal & Risk Adjusted Asset Allocation
  • Target Portfolio
  • Portfolio Re-balancing
  • What-if Scenarios on Goal Results
  • Estate Planning Review
  • Insurance Review
  • Implementation Recommendation
  • Ongoing Review

Within this process, understanding your risk tolerance, goals and asset allocation are all important.  The next question is
how do I apply this to my real life situation.  Here is where we do extensive work in the What-if Scenarios.  Trying to
establish a road map that can give you direction when life changes.  Some of the most common are:

  • Can I retire at a certain age?
  • Will I run out of money?
  • If I downsize my house what impact will that have?
  • What will my retirement lifestyle look like?
  • How much do I need to save per year to reach a certain goal?
  • If I work part time, what is that impact on my retirement age?,

In addition, the financial plan solutions should be objective. Some advisors offer discounted financial planning as a loss
leader to promote other services or financial products.  Since we are independent and fee-only financial advisors our
solutions and recommendations generate no additional revenue to our firm.  This arrangement eliminates the conflict of
interest you may face with other advisors within this process.  Each of our services requires a separate contract.  We
are also fiduciaries and need to place our client's best interest first.  This is not true of all financial planners.

Attached are a few important pages of a sample financial plan report.  You may find these helpful.  Visit our resource
